Professional Experience:

Chris Godfrey brings to the field of flooring inspection a diverse and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the floor covering industry. His training began as a textile cleaning and restoration specialist, and floorcovering mechanic. 

For over 35 years he has supervised the installation of residential and commercial floor covering materials on a variety of projects.  His expertise has also been utilized in the specification of flooring materials and identification of proper installation methods.  He is well acquainted with all current industry standards that relate to flooring products, their method of installation and maintenance requirements.

Chris Godfrey also has an extensive background in disaster restoration; having performed and supervised work on everything from simple restoration water damage to complex dehumidification of commercial buildings.  He has been called upon to manage numerous fire restoration projects that involved structural rebuilding and contents restoration.  His experience in this field also included handling biologically hazardous job sites, such as raw sewage backups from main sewer lines, cleanup of bodily fluids and tissues, and extreme contamination from molds, mildews, and fungi.  The extensive knowledge and technical skills derived from years of restoration work are an integral part of each inspection. He is a member of an elite group of certified restorers, which number only 450 individuals worldwide.

In December, 2003,  NOFMA – The Wood Flooring Manufacturers Association recognized Mr. Godfrey, along with two other individuals, as the first NOFMA Certified Wood Inspectors in the country.   The NOFMA-CWFI program required a combination of educational training, practical experience, and both site review and report review in order to earn credentials.  The technical director of NOFMA, Mickey Moore, personally accompanied Mr. Godfrey during the on-site training and review phase of the course.

Career History:

Senior Inspector/Consultant · Spector, Ltd. - Mission Viejo, CA

Responsibilities include handling all detailed inspections and performing field testing.  Prepare and provide supporting documentation to all findings and handle analyzation and diagnosis of any problems or concerns including determining corrective actions.  Create written reports and correspondence and complete the research for legal case preparation.  Appear and provide expert witness testimony in various deposition, arbitration and courtroom hearings.

Supervise jobsites and conduct training for any new installers as well as managing difficult floor projects.  Handle all manufacturer claims adjustor requests and coordinate a variety of trades and employees in each project.  Complete estimates and manage all building restoration projects.  Answer questions, resolve any problems and follow each project from concept through to completion.  (1990 to Present)

 

Technical Services Manager · Junckers Hardwood, Inc. - Anaheim, CA

Provided technical support to contractors, architects and designers for this world leading manufacturer of hardwood flooring.  Completed the accurate and efficient evaluation and processing of various claims.  Oversaw product quality control and conducted a high volume of training courses/seminars.

Supervised jobsite locations and provided training and instruction to employees, contractors, and installers. Conducted inspections and prepared reports.  Handled a variety of correspondence preparation projects.  Coordinated multiple luxury condominium projects in New York City.  (2005 to 2007)

 

President/Senior Project Supervisor · Disaster Services, Inc. - Laguna Niguel, CA

Operated this busy contracting company including supervising up to 30 employees.  Interacted closely with architects, subcontractors and clients.  Conducted a detailed analysis of costs of material and labor to determine project feasibility.  Oversaw all projects from the initial planning to the successful completion.

Handled biological clean-up, post fire, flood, earthquake, vandalism and mold projects.  Supervised clerical staff, estimators and work crews in daily operations.  Managed both commercial and residential projects and worked as an approved vendor for various insurance companies.  Interacted with county, district and municipalities.  Prepared reports, resolved any problems  (1981 to 1996)

Sold and installed all types of flooring products to both residential and commercial clientele.  Estimated projects and provided detailed written bids.  Managed custom projects at luxury homes and special material requests.  (1975 to 2007)
